M.Y. Lermontov bicentenary in Linguistics School

On 15th October we celebrated the bicentenary of the great poet M.Y. Lermontov’s birth in Linguistics School. We commemorated this day by putting on several events. Pupils recited the immortal poet’s verses on the School radio all day. His prose and poetic works were voiced and acted out during literature classes as well as presentations of Lermontov’s life and works.
Primary School kids were not left out of the proceedings either. They took part in an interesting quiz on the poet’s life and works.
The following lines from I. Andronikov underscored all the events, “Throughout our lives we bear the image of that man: sad, stern, tender, authoritative, unassuming, courageous, noble, biting, wistful, wry, shy, endowed with a powerful will and passion and an astute yet ruthless mind.
An ingenious poet who died so soon, immortal and forever young.
